Possible Travel Itinerary

I've been having some fun researching the eurorail. I'm trying to figure out how to fit in as many places of interest but still maintain comfortable travel and plenty of time to site see and absorb all the goodness of each city.
Here's what I've come up with so far:

Day 1
Arrive in Frankfurt mid morning.
Is there anything to do in Frankfurt? or shall we continue on? we may need some down time after our long flight.

Day 2
Train from Frankfurt to Amsterdam (4-5 hours)
Arrive in Amsterdam in time for dinner and drinks!

Day 3 & 4
Explore the city

Day 5
Train from Amsterdam to Paris (4 hours)
Arrive in Paris for wine and cheese!!

Day 6 & 7
Explore the City, lots to do!!

Day 8
Train from Paris to Milan (7 1/2 hours eek! but puts us in a good place to continue on to Venice)

Day 9
Train from Milan to Venice (2 1/2 hours)
Explore the city

Day 10
Venice Biennale- a huge international art exhibition takes over the city every two years.

Day 11 & 12
More exploring and lots of eating

Day 13
Train from Venice to Rome (4 1/2 hours)

... and that's as far as I got so far.
we still need to get to Pompeii and make our way over to Spain some how.
